Learning Objectives:

  • Define pediatric emergence delirium and describe its associated risk factors and clinical impact.
  • Identify evidence-based treatment modalities and perioperative education opportunities to reduce the incidence and impact of pediatric ED.
  • Explain the role of interprofessional collaboration in improving outcomes in pediatric emergence delirium.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of a targeted educational intervention in improving PACU nurses' knowledge and confidence related to pediatric ED.
