Jeffrey R Darna, Ph.D., DNP, CRNA, ACNP-BC, FAANA, is the Program Director and an Associate Professor of Clinical Anesthesiology at the University of Southern California, Keck School of Medicine, Program of Nurse Anesthesia. Dr. Darna completed his acute care nurse practitioner education at Yale University in 2003 and his nurse anesthesiology residency at Central Connecticut State University/Hospital of Central Connecticut in 2006. In 2013, he obtained his practice doctorate from New York University, emphasizing the transition of care in high-risk patient populations. He received his Ph.D. from the University of San Diego, where his research focused on the impostor phenomenon in nurse anesthesiologists. His interests include healthcare policy, executive leadership, and preparing the next generation of nurse anesthesiologists as experts in perioperative care. Dr. Darna has clinical privileges at the VA Greater Los Angeles Health Care System. He is the past president of the California Association of Nurse Anesthesiology and has proudly served on several AANA committees and task forces.
