Electronic nicotine delivery systems (ENDS), also known as e-cigarettes or vaping products, have been available for purchase in the US since 2007. A brief history of vaping will be provided, followed by current vaping statistics and an explanation of the components of the e-cigarette. The variety of vaping products available for purchase in the US will also be discussed. Vaping-associated adverse health effects, such as respiratory and cardiovascular, central nervous system, immunologic, and wound healing issues will be presented. Recent available literature regarding ENDS uses as well as case reports will be provided. Preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative considerations in the patient who uses e-cigarettes will be discussed.
Class A credit can only be earned for participation in synchronous learning via live in-person or live webinar sessions. In-person attendees can only receive Class A credit for the sessions they attend live.

Describe the components of an electronic nicotine delivery system (ENDS) and the current e-cigarettes available for purchase including 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th generation ENDS.
Explain the known long-term health effects from the use of vaping products and electronic cigarettes based on the current literature available.
Discuss approaches for perioperative management of the patient who uses vaping products or electronic cigarettes, from the preoperative visit to postanesthesia care.
